Andy Young joined Saggezza in 2017, having forged a successful career with global IT business Accenture.
The father of one explains why his switch to a role with Saggezza was the perfect next step on his career pathway.
“I had worked at Accenture for 14 years when the opportunity arose to make the move to Saggezza.
“I felt that I had reached my glass ceiling at Accenture, and though I had really enjoyed my time there, I definitely felt like I was ready to take that next step - I wanted to challenge myself and I felt Saggezza would give me that chance.”
Andy had not heard of Saggezza when he first saw a vacancy with the firm, but recognised that a move to the business would give him the opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing organisation, with a world-class roster of clients, which would in turn give him the chance to develop his own skills.
“Saggezza was a bit of an unknown quantity for me, but hearing about the global brands the company works with, I could see that this was a business that could offer me something different - the chance to develop new skills.
“The size and scale of my previous employer meant that, for the most part, I was working in the background as a technical architect and never got to engage directly with clients.
“Coming to a more agile business like Saggezza, I have been able to work in partnership with clients and that’s been fantastic. I’m currently leading projects with one of the world’s largest investment banks, and that’s a measure of the confidence Saggezza has in me - and the level of trust that is afforded to the team generally.
“I’ve been able to tap into skills I have that had not been honed. For instance, I have always been a very social person, but have never had the chance to use that to build relationships with clients. It’s exciting to be able to test that ability.”
And Andy’s quick exposure to clients is not unusual. The whole Saggezza team is agile enough to go from coding to client meetings in one fell swoop.
“Young developers join the firm and can very quickly be working with senior people from world-renowned businesses. This is a place where you are given opportunities quickly. That’s refreshing, and the team develops at pace as a result.”
The company works at a speed that means it suits ambitious and highly driven people. The rewards are vast and the team enjoys global opportunities.
Andy works between Saggezza’s Sunderland and London offices, but partnership and collaboration with the team in India and the US is important.
“Though I am UK based, you do very much feel part of a global team.
“The business is big enough to provide global opportunities, but also small enough to give the team the chance to influence it and affect change.
“I came here to develop my career and am certainly doing that. It’s an exciting, dynamic place to work and one that is strengthening its reputation as an employer of choice across the North East of England.”
